Jair Bolsonaro has been arrested after authorities found he posed a serious risk of fleeing while under home confinement.

The one-time leader was found guilty of plotting a armed takeover in the ninth month and given more than over two decades in incarceration, but he continued under house arrest pending appeals.

Top Judicial Official Justice Moraes said the action to imprison the septuagenarian politician was a precautionary step after fresh information were revealed.

This encompassed trying to remove his ankle monitor and a summons to a demonstration that could enable a possible escape.

Diplomatic Refuge Fears

Context of Sentencing
